Manners by Sheryl Eberly

Some say that manners are a social kindness, while others agree with French novelist Honore de Balzac that "manners are the hypocrisy of a nation." But what do our social rituals really say about us? In an age in which pedestrians are obstacles between us and the office and road rage is a perfectly legitimate reaction to bad traffic, our general lack of respect for the other is exposed. Sheryl Eberly, author of 365 Manners Kids Should Know, asks where our manners have gone, why they are important and how we can recover respect.
